Sandra
I am an 81-year-old mother and grandmother who is fortunate to have a wonderful support group in my family and friends.
I have volunteered in several organisations since retiring from teaching 26 years ago. I had known about Wayside for many years and am now in my seventh year here as a volunteer, where I work on front desk and cafe, and assist at community lunches and Friday barbecues. I have also participated in fundraising by walking The Long Walk Home four times.
After attending the unveiling of the Wings of our Angels sculpture, I decided to leave a gift to Wayside in my Will. This was easy to do with my solicitor’s help and the form which Wayside provided. As a volunteer at Wayside, I have witnessed first-hand the genuine love and nonjudgmental support available to our visitors in so many ways, and I encourage others to make a bequest to enable Wayside to continue to provide this valuable community support.
You will never know if somebody you know may be the beneficiary of your generosity. I hope, when I am gone, I will be remembered as someone who cared about others and was willing to help an individual or an organisation when the need arose. I hope my gift, along with that of others, will allow Wayside to continue to do what it has been doing for 60 years, treating everyone with love and respect in a non-judgmental way.
Love over hate always.
