Wayside Chapel has provided unconditional love, care and support to people on and around the streets of Sydney since 1964. The essential work done by Wayside never stops, but the money we need to do it sometimes does. We simply wouldn’t exist without the ongoing support of our friends. Where there’s a will, there’s a Wayside

If you want to continue your support of Wayside even after you’ve gone, you can leave a bequest to Wayside Chapel.

A bequest is a donation that you make via your will. Leaving a bequest to  Wayside Chapel means that your love and support won’t leave us when you do. You can continue to help us do what we do; to stand with people in their worst moment and see them through to better days.

Your contribution will mean that marginalised members of our community have access to essential health, welfare, social and recreational services, as well as a place where they’re welcome just to ‘be’.

To leave a bequest, follow these steps:

  1. To make clear your desire to leave a bequest to Wayside Chapel, you will need to either include a specific bequest when your will is prepared or, if you already have a will in place, prepare a simple codicil to update your wishes. To make it easy for you, we’ve included some suggested wording below. As your will is a legally-binding document and every person’s circumstances are different, we encourage you to seek your own legal advice.
  2. Tell your nearest and dearest that you’ve made a bequest to Wayside Chapel. This step is very important. It means that when the time comes, your family know what your wishes are and won’t be surprised to hear about your gift to Wayside.
  3. Let us know that you’ve made the bequest. We understand that your will is very personal. However, by letting us know that you’ve made the bequest (you don’t have to disclose the amount) we can recognise you as a committed Wayside supporter and keep you up to date as we further our mission of creating a community with no “us and them”.

Suggested wording for your bequest:

I give, free of all duties and taxes… (choose one of the following from A.B,C,D,E or F)

A) the whole of my estate (or _____% of my estate), or
B) the residue of my estate (or _____% of the residue of my estate), or
C) the sum of $____________________ , or my units/shares in _______________ Trust/Ltd, or
D) my real property (or _____% of my property) situated at _____________________ having the title reference __________________, or
E) the proceeds from the sale of _________________* as liquidated by the executor of the estate
*sale of specific items such as artwork, jewellery etc.
F) Life insurance policy no._____________ held by _______________________ to

The Wayside Chapel Foundation
ABN 77 406 918 553 of
29 Hughes St, Potts Point, NSW 2011

The receipt of the treasurer, secretary of public officer for the time being of  Wayside Chapel Foundation is an absolute discharge to my executor.

Additionally, you may also insert a clause such as this: (optional)

Without creating a binding obligation on my executor or UCA – The Wayside Chapel Foundation -I request that the organisation use this bequest for purpose _____________________________ and I request the organisation to use these funds if at all practicable for this this purpose or the purpose in its absolute discretion which most closely matches this purpose and failing that for the general purposes of The Wayside Chapel Foundation.

Workplace Giving

Becoming involved in our Workplace Giving program is a simple, easy and affordable way of supporting Wayside Chapel. You can become an active member of this program by donating through your employer’s payroll system from as little as $5 a week.

Workplace Giving is a program that enables you to donate small amounts to Wayside Chapel on a regular basis, through your employer’s payroll department. Each pay period you can nominate to donate a small amount to Wayside Chapel. Your employer will collect this and pass the donation on to Wayside. It makes a huge difference to what we do.

How do I get involved?
There are some simple steps to get involved in workplace giving:

1. Ask your employer if they have a workplace giving program
2. Register for workplace giving at your organisation
3. Nominate The Wayside Chapel as your preferred charity
4. Select the amount per pay period you would like to contribute
5. Stay in touch with us!

Many companies with a workplace giving program will also provide matched donations up to a maximum amount. This means that for every dollar you donate to Wayside Chapel your employer will also donate a dollar – doubling your contribution to what we do. We encourage you to check your employer’s policy on matched giving.

Donations through Workplace Giving are tax deductable and generally the deduction is made at the time of giving, as donations reduce your gross taxable income. Check out the Australian Taxation Office (www.ato.gov.au) for more information on the tax implications of contributing through Workplace Giving.
