Wayside Chapel has provided unconditional love, care and support to people on and around the streets of Sydney since 1964. The essential work done by Wayside never stops, but the money we need to do it sometimes does. We simply wouldn’t exist without the ongoing support of our friends. The essential work done by Wayside Chapel never stops, but the money we need to do it sometimes does.
We need your support to continue to deliver love and assistance to people who are struggling on our streets and to people in need who are isolated in their homes.
Your donation will help to provide love, support and assistance to people facing homelessness, isolation and mental illness.
Become a Monthly Giver
By joining our monthly giving program, you are part of the stability that Wayside relies upon in providing support to people in crisis and experiencing homelessness.
Your contribution is an offering to our community, helping to connect, transform and move people towards health and healing.
Donations of $2 or more are tax deductible in Australia.
Leave a Gift in Will
No matter how big or small, your lasting gift to Wayside Chapel will help provide emergency meals, clothing, first aid and showers for people who desperately need it. Your bequest can also cover the costs of counselling, health and alcohol referrals, as well as legal referrals to help people get back on their feet. Most of all, your gift will help build a sense of connection for people who feel discarded by the rest of society.
Like any strong community, our success over the years has relied on the kindness and compassion of our supporters. Bequests have played a big part in making sure our community continues to flourish. Without these special acts of generosity, we simply couldn’t help as many people as we do by keeping our doors open every day of the year.
Making a lasting impact is easy – here’s how:
1. Speak with your loved ones
Talk to those closest to you about your decision to leave a gift in your Will to charity. Doing so means you trust the organisation and believe in the vital work they do. Wayside Chapel would be honoured to be held in such high regard.
2. Choose your legacy
Two ways you can leave a gift to Wayside Chapel in your Will are:
- Residual bequest: Pass on the remainder of your estate to your chosen charities, after other legacies have been fulfilled.
- Specific bequest: Specify the percentage share or dollar amount that each of your chosen charities receive.
3. Use the correct wording
Here is some suggested wording to ensure your gift is used in accordance with your wishes.
‘I give to Wayside Chapel Foundation (ABN 77 406 918 553) free of all taxes and other deductions the residue of my estate / ____% share / $____ for its general purposes, and the receipt given on behalf of the Wayside Chapel shall be sufficient discharge to my Trustee.
4. Write and legalise your will
If you already have a Will in place, you will need to prepare a simple codicil to update your wishes. If you do not have a Will, you will need to include a specific bequest when your Will is prepared. A solicitor, lawyer or estate planner can assist you to do this under your direction. Your Will is not legal until it is signed and witnessed. You can change your Will and your beneficiaries at any time.
5. Please let us know
We understand that your Will is very personal. But by letting us know that you’ve made your bequest, we can send you our heartfelt thanks and recognise you as a committed supporter of Wayside. You don’t have to tell us the amount you intend to leave – simply let us know that you’re leaving a gift and we can make sure to keep you up to date about our vital work in the community. Call us on 0426 750 052 or email [email protected].
Workplace Giving Program
Becoming involved in our Workplace Giving program is a simple, easy and affordable way of supporting Wayside Chapel. You can become an active member of this program by donating through your employer’s payroll system from as little as $5 a week.
Workplace Giving is a program that enables you to donate small amounts to Wayside Chapel on a regular basis, through your employer’s payroll department. Each pay period you can nominate to donate a small amount to Wayside Chapel. Your employer will collect this and pass the donation on to Wayside. It makes a huge difference to what we do.
How do I get involved?
There are some simple steps to get involved in workplace giving:
- Ask your employer if they have a workplace giving program
- Register for workplace giving at your organisation
- Nominate The Wayside Chapel as your preferred charity
- Select the amount per pay period you would like to contribute
- Stay in touch with us!
Many companies with a workplace giving program will also provide matched donations up to a maximum amount. This means that for every dollar you donate to Wayside Chapel your employer will also donate a dollar – doubling your contribution to what we do. We encourage you to check your employer’s policy on matched giving.
Donations through Workplace Giving are tax deductable and generally the deduction is made at the time of giving, as donations reduce your gross taxable income. Check out the Australian Taxation Office for more information on the tax implications of contributing through Workplace Giving.
