Wayside is blessed with more than 600 active volunteers who cover over 250 shifts each and every week at Wayside. Without the commitment of our volunteers, we simply could not open the doors each day.

Volunteering at our Community Service Centre in Bondi

Volunteers are the backbone of Wayside Chapel and without them, we simply would not be able to open our doors. Wayside Chapel are seeking volunteers for our Bondi Community Service Centre (CSC), located at 77 Roscoe St, Bondi Beach and open Monday – Friday 8:30am – 3pm.

Jobs you can help out with include:

  • Taking orders, serving meals to our visitors, cleaning and clearing dishes and helping out at the kitchen at the low-cost cafe. Bondi’s low cost cafe works like a regular cafe with a menu that changes daily and table service. This is a communal spot for visitors, staff and volunteers to meet and relax.
  • Greeting people at the front desk of the CSC, the first point of contact for people coming into Wayside. The front desk is where people can receive basic necessities that give back a little bit of dignity – a hot shower, a fresh change of clothes, practical help like phone charging, mail, as well as get connected with workers for further support.

Individual volunteering

Please note, Wayside Chapel will start taking volunteer applications again in 2020. Keep your eyes on this page for updates to volunteer inductions for Kings Cross.

Wayside is blessed with more than 600 active volunteers who cover over 250 shifts each and every week at Wayside. Without the commitment of our volunteers, we simply could not open the doors each day.

Our volunteers are the first to greet all visitors at our front desk, to serve customers in our Op Shops and make a hot cuppa for those in need who visit our Cafés.

Our volunteers are incredibly important to us and provide the horsepower for Wayside’s program areas. Volunteers are worth over $1 million each year in terms of the time they give to us and our visitors.

Volunteers have the opportunity to contribute across all of Wayside. Your journey as a Wayside volunteer begins by attending our Volunteer Induction Session. At this session you will gain an understanding of Wayside’s mission, programs and the huge range of opportunities to be involved in our community as a volunteer.
