It’s not a very complicated story.
I have been a committed Christian since I was 15 years old. And I have been a Third Order Franciscan for the past 20 years. This is a worldwide Anglican order known as the Third Order of the Society of St Francis and basically it has 3 aims:
- To make our Lord known and loved everywhere
- To spread the spirit of love and harmony
- To live simply
Our group in Sydney has, as one of its projects, something we lovingly call Sox’nJox which was set up simply to provide clients of Wayside with clean socks and underwear which is such a basic right. We collect money at our meetings which are held regularly and then I go shopping for the best bargains. Department store staff are known to look at me strangely at times!
I have known about Wayside ever since its early days and I believe in its goals and philosophy.
Leaving a legacy is I think what one would call a “no brainer” for me. And hopefully it will be for others. It is as simple as that.
