Is it possible that in Australia people are born into inequality? Do we live in a society that favours a few at the expense of many?

Side by Side 2018

After the success of our inaugural Side by Side event last year, Wayside Chapel will be hosting Side by Side 2018, a free long-table lunch and forum at the Bondi Pavilion on Wednesday, 10 October 2018. You are invited to participate in this unique, interactive event to discuss the cycle of inequality in Australia.

We believe in bringing people from all ages and all walks of life to talk about the issues that affect our communities. This year we will host this free event during the school holidays and encourage both adults and children over the age of 10 to attend.

Event Details
Wednesday, 10 October 2018, 12pm to 3pm

Bondi Pavilion, Queen Elizabeth Drive Bondi Beach
This event is FREE. Spaces are strictly limited.

Lunch and refreshments provided.
RSVP here by Monday, 8 October (please register an individual RSVP for each family member attending)

At the event, you will hear from special guests including Skye Leckie, Cameron Daddo and Indira Naidoo, who all recently featured on the SBS Filthy Rich and Homeless series as well as Wayside’s new CEO and Pastor, Jon Owen, talking about their own experiences and exploring what we can all do to create a fair and equitable society. Wayside Board member Graham Rich will be MC.

Every day at Wayside Chapel we see those who have suffered hardship and disadvantage since birth. Children from lower socio-economic households do not succeed as often as children from wealthier households and these kids who fall behind, face a near impossible task to catch up to their peers, something that can persist well into adulthood. When society fails our young people, we set them up to live a life of poverty.

Side by Side has been inspired by the much-anticipated opening of Wayside’s new social enterprise in Bondi Beach, the Heart Cafe, and the Wingspan Project – a new program that will return hope to the lives of unemployed youth.

This event is sponsored by Portfolio Construction Forum and Hattonneale.
