We believe in bringing people from all ages and all walks of life to talk about the issues that affect our communities. This year we will host this free event during the school holidays and encourage both adults and children over the age of 10 to attend.
Wednesday, 10 October 2018, 12pm to 3pm
Bondi Pavilion, Queen Elizabeth Drive Bondi Beach
This event is FREE. Spaces are strictly limited.
Lunch and refreshments provided.
RSVP here by Monday, 8 October (please register an individual RSVP for each family member attending)
At the event, you will hear from special guests including Skye Leckie, Cameron Daddo and Indira Naidoo, who all recently featured on the SBS Filthy Rich and Homeless series as well as Wayside’s new CEO and Pastor, Jon Owen, talking about their own experiences and exploring what we can all do to create a fair and equitable society. Wayside Board member Graham Rich will be MC.
Every day at Wayside Chapel we see those who have suffered hardship and disadvantage since birth. Children from lower socio-economic households do not succeed as often as children from wealthier households and these kids who fall behind, face a near impossible task to catch up to their peers, something that can persist well into adulthood. When society fails our young people, we set them up to live a life of poverty.
Side by Side has been inspired by the much-anticipated opening of Wayside’s new social enterprise in Bondi Beach, the Heart Cafe, and the Wingspan Project – a new program that will return hope to the lives of unemployed youth.
Together we walk Side by Side. Watch what happened at last year’s event below.
